[image description: collection of nine stills with white text; stills show Nymphadora Tonks, Hermione Granger, Minerva McGonagall, Hedwig, Fleur Delacour, Luna Lovegood, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Sybil Trelawney; text reads “Multiple representations of female characters, not just one stereotype, are an accurate way to depict women in fiction.”]

Rly? They’re all white. They’re all cis. They’re all hetero. They’re all able-bodied.
Of those posited as being mentally “unhealthy/unstable” (Luna, Bellatrix, Trelawny) it’s done in an excessively cliche way. (Luna is to be avoided and only useful for her magic - even her name is a riff; Bellatrix is made mad by her power; Trelawny is “tragic” and to be pitied)
Then there’s the “exceptional” girl; the “mother”; the “wise crone”; the blonde “nymph/virgin”; the “rebellious goth”. I wouldn’t say the women in HP are accurate - they’re just riffs on familiar literary and socialized themes. It looks exceptional because they’re all in the one place.
Edit: and rly, with the space in the middle, an animal was chosen to represent a woman over, say, Cho Chang, or the Patil sisters?

As a fan of Harry Potter I still wholeheartedly agree with the commentary.

I luuuurrrrrveeeee hp but still

Commentary.

He missed Hogwarts so much it was like having a constant stomach ache.  He missed the castle, with its secret passageways and ghosts,  his classes,  the mail arriving by owl, eating banquets in the Great Hall, sleeping in his four-poster bed in the tower dormitory, visiting the gamekeeper, Hagrid, in his cabin next to the Forbidden Forest in the grounds, and, especially, Quidditch, the most popular sport in the wizarding world. But more than anything else Harry missed his best friends.

Incidentally, this is why “Harry Potter” just isn’t a feminist text. We’re supposed to root for Ron to get the beautiful, talented, smart, and way-too-fucking-good-for-him Hermione because he’s a nice guy who has paid the requisite price. He showed up at the dealership, provided his credit score (he’s nice) and came up with funds (he cares for her), and so it’s a sale! Why would you ever question otherwise?
