‘Feminists’ who liken eating meat to rape/slavery/enforced pregnancy/domestic violence.

It seems like you have a bit of difficulty understanding that not all oppressions are equal, and that it’s wrong to try and equate them. Also, you are dismissing the experiences of humans, and using triggering and non-related words to draw attention to your cause and demonise people for daring to express personal agency… kind of how ‘pro-life’ people liken abortion to genocide. In fact, pretty much exactly like that.

So fuck you and your faux-feminism. You can be veg*n without spreading hateful misinformation and shaming others for their diet.

Men expect to have our opinion valued. That’s why when one of us gets upset about feminism, you shouldn’t waste your time taking them seriously. Laugh at them. Point your fingers. ROFLCOPTER. All that. Feminism shouldn’t have to fellate the patriarchy.

Your opinion infringes on other people’s opinion regardless of the content thereof, so I don’t respect it. It’s uncritical and dogmatic.

This has nothing to do with your gender.
You’re just being a douche.

There is a dangerous myth going around this country that sexism doesn’t exist anymore, that we have gotten past it and that ‘alarmist’ feminists are an outdated nuisance. Warnings like, ‘Oh, watch out—here comes the feminazi!’ abound in our culture, as if for a woman, entitling yourself to an opinion puts you on par with followers of the Third Reich. Women are expected to be nice and sweet, to make other people feel comfortable. A woman who says ‘hey, I think there’s a problem here’ is being ‘negative.’ A woman who doesn’t smile while she’s being harassed is ‘humourless.’ A woman who prefers to stay focused on tasks is a ‘cold bitch.’ Significant gendering is involved here; women have an obligation to look and act a certain way and when they don’t, they need to be hassled until they do. lmao @ people who think feminism is about equal rights when it’s about killing all men

If you are a white woman and you want to call yourself a feminist, you must acknowledge that your whiteness affords you a privilege that shields you from a lot. You must also acknowledge that you are afforded privileges that some men in this country do not have. Racism and sexism are tightly intertwined. You cannot fight one while ignoring the other. ladyatheist (via mamaatheist)

UK aid helps to fund forced sterilisation of India’s poor

indigocrayon:

The UK agreed to give India £166m to fund the programme, despite allegations that the money would be used to sterilise the poor in an attempt to curb the country’s burgeoning population of 1.2 billion people.

Sterilisation has been mired in controversy for years. With officials and doctors paid a bonus for every operation, poor and little-educated men and women in rural areas are routinely rounded up and sterilised without having a chance to object. Activists say some are told they are going to health camps for operations that will improve their general wellbeing and only discover the truth after going under the knife.

This is stuff that’s happening within your lifetime. This is not something from the past, something that happened a while ago. Population control is something that still exists.

And if you ever try saying that we need to save women in foreign countries, well maybe you should step back and consider how Western countries are aiding in (and have encouraged) creating these issues.

You know how there was an awesome sign at a church that said “bigotry wrapped in religion is still bigotry?” And it became huge on the Internet? I think we should start something along the lines of “transphobia wrapped in feminism is still transphobia.”

TRANSPHOBIA WRAPPED IN FEMINISM IS STILL TRANSPHOBIA

Can this be the new hip saying please

The man who is horrified at a woman’s “overly exposed” breasts will likely never have to worry about wearing one shirt—one shirt out of a lifetime of shirts—that happens to accidentally set off some random person’s slut meter, because of the way his body just is. And because my breasts are smaller, less visible, less imposing than other women’s breasts—because there’s less boob there—I can feel free to wear the more revealing top without attracting claims of public obscenity. It seems that some women’s bodies are just naturally sluttier than other women’s bodies—and all women’s bodies are naturally sluttier than men’s bodies. I want one.
Not as badly as I want a bumper sticker that says: “My cat is an honor student.”
But it’s close, okay? That is how badly I want it.
